Old Farts Fly began as a jarring realization. Those of us who grew up during the golden age of general aviation had become seasoned aviators. Small private airports used to keep their gates open for young people with an interest in aviation. We have come to realize that airport fences are deterring young folks from experiencing the thrill of general aviation. It's our passion to share the joy of flying with as many pilots as we can.

GEORGE DAy

Flight Instructor

George’s passion for aviation began as a 7-year old in a Boeing 727 cockpit at 36,000 feet, and was sealed less than 10 years later upon earning his pilot license in a Cessna 152. Since then, George has become a highly experienced and talented pilot with an ATP and more than 15,000 hours of flight time. Over the span of several decades, George transformed from Electronic Warfare Officer in the back seat of the venerable F-4G to Instructor Pilot in the multi-role F-16C to Evaluator Pilot in the T-6 Texan II to Captain in the coveted B-737. As a CFII with single-engine privileges and experience in a multitude of acrobatic aircraft, George is privileged to share his love of flying to aviators and future aviators alike.
