Old Farts Fly offers Spin Endorsement Training on the Florida Gulf Coast. Just north of the Emerald Waters of Destin, we also provide a logbook entry to satisfy FAR 61.183 which covers the requirement for the flight instructor rating.

You’ll receive ground training in Stall Awareness, spin entry (incipient) and full developed spins. Spin recovery techniques are practiced in both incipient and developed spins. The student will become proficient in spin entry and recovery. We also provide a logbook entry to satisfy FAR 61.183- which covers the requirement for the flight instructor rating.


This training in spins and recovery training adds to the skill set of the private and commercial pilot. For one to be familiar with and be able to recognize , prevent, and recover from attitudes not experienced in daily flying. The ability to enhance pilot skill is an invaluable opportunity.

The ‘required’ training for the endorsement, found in FAR 61.183 consists of:

  • Ground training in stall awareness, spin entry (incipient) and full developed spins
  • Training conducted in a Citabria 7KCAB
  • One-on-one instruction
  • 2 sessions in the same day

Is this class for you?

Must have private pilot's license or better

Minimum flight total time of 100 hours

Must have a current BFR or equivalent

Must have a current medical

Student pilots

Less than 100 hours total flight time

What's required to start training?

Please bring the following documents with you to training:


  • Copy of your License
  • Copy of your Medical
  • Copy of the last page of your personal logbook
